Traditional Style Jouhikko C400
This jouhikko is designed in the old traditional way of building it, its resonance and tone are a bit deeper and more earthly tone than the C100 soprano model which is better for lead work and higher tempo playing. Total length is longer than the C100 model, the strings are also longer. Body is built from one solid block of alder, the soundboards are basswood but spruce tops may be added for an additional charge. Spruce offers a better tone than basswood, Bridge is made out of maple and the tailpiece is made from american black walnut, waxed sinew is used to tie the tailpiece to the body, overall the instrument still only weighs in around 3 pounds. This alto version of the jouhikko is perfect for the recording musician or live musician who wants that old earthly tone to add to their music.
